GPRS Systems Ltd., a Northern Ireland based company and Bee Mobile joined forces to create a Windows CE based mobile application which purpose is to track the position of field service workers and monitor their job status. The entire solution is a client-server set of applications. Employees at the HQ gather job information and then send them to their workers who are in the field. Thanks to the mobile client the field service workers see the new jobs immediatelly on the screen. They can accept the job in which case it gets automatically assigned to them. If the field service worker arrives to the destination he informs the HQ simply by pressing the button on the screen. Finally, when the job is done, he switches the status of the job to ‘Job complete’ and is ready to accept more jobs.

The GUI of the mobile client was built with the help of Bee Mobile iPack. The application also contains a chat messaging system which the employees can use to communicate with HQ (for example request additional information or provide more information about the current status of the job). If the cellular signal is lost and then gained again, the application will automatically reconnect ensuring fluent flow of information.
